“Here is Our Story...”

In 1942 Born in Çumra, Nurullah Ercan graduated from METU (Middle East Technical University) in 1964 as a Mining Engineer. He completed his military service as a reserve officer and teacher in the village of Odunboğazı, Şereflikoçhisar, between 1966 and 1967. Our journey begins here… On a snowy winter day in 1966, the young teacher got off the bus on the main road and started walking towards the village of Odunboğazı. It was getting dark, the blizzard was intensifying, and the road to the village had disappeared over the mountains and hills. The darkness, combined with heavy snowfall, increased despair and the feeling of being lost intensified… Just as hope was beginning to fade, the village dogs barked at the stranger, giving rise to a new glimmer of hope. The increase in dog barking coincided with the arrival of the owner of a house on the edge of the village; the appearance of the house's light transformed the pitch darkness into something as effective and refreshing as the sunrise for Mr. Nurullah. The rest continued in the dim light of a lamp, in a warm room, and with peaceful rest… The villagers of Odunboğazı embraced the young teacher with great love and affection, showing him great hospitality. Mr. Nurullah did not forget this sincerity of the village and later employed a significant number of the young people raised in the village in his businesses. Nurullah Ercan, who continues his business life in many different sectors, has never forgotten his responsibilities towards our country and our people while expanding his businesses, and has contributed many works to different provinces of our country. His son, Ali Ercan, in order to keep alive this meaningful journey that began with his father's faith and efforts, and to turn people's dreams into reality, established the Meliha Ercan Foundation in 2025, named after his sister Meliha Ercan, who lost her life at a young age, thus giving identity to this social responsibility. Our roadmap, which shapes where, how, and to what we will direct our resources within the scope of philanthropy, will continue to illuminate our youth with our attention, reliability, and dedicated work.
